Burger Patties

Assembly

Method

Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined. Form the mixture into four equal patties, about 1/2 pound each, and make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.

Pulled Pork

  1. 3

    Prepare the Pulled Pork

In a slow cooker, combine the pork shoulder, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  2. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the sauce.

Coleslaw

  1. 5

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrots. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots, mixing until well combined. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Carolina Burger

Toast the brioche buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster. Place a cooked burger patty on the bottom half of each bun, top with a generous portion of pulled pork, and add a scoop of coleslaw. Place the top half of the bun over the coleslaw. Serve immediately.
