Method

Burger Patty Preparation

1

Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid over mixing to keep the patties tender.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

3

Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

4

Cook the Patties

Add the patties to the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

5

Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty, cover with a lid or tent with aluminum foil to melt the cheese.

6

Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, cut the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

7

Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Add tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.
