Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Seafood
Rinse the mussels and clams under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any grit. Discard any open shells that do not close when tapped. Peel and devein the shrimp, and slice the calamari into rings.
- 2
Cook the Cavatelli
In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the cavatelli pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
Cooking
- 3
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- 4
Add Seafood and Wine
Add the mussels, clams, shrimp, and calamari to the skillet. Pour in the white wine and vegetable broth. Stir gently and bring to a simmer.
- 5
Combine Ingredients
Once the seafood begins to open (about 5-7 minutes), add the cherry tomatoes and white beans. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the shrimp are opaque and the calamari is tender.
- 6
Toss with Pasta
Add the cooked cavatelli to the skillet, tossing everything together. If needed, add reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency.
