Preparing the Coffee Mixture

Brew the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso or coffee and allow it to cool slightly.

Mix Coffee Ingredients
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee, coffee liqueur (if using), and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Preparing the Mascarpone Mixture

Whip the Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar
In another bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone and Vanilla
Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder. Slice and enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
