Dough Preparation
- 1
Boil Water and Butter
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
- 2
Add Flour
Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes.
- 3
Mix in Eggs
Add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough. Mix well until the eggs are fully incorporated and the dough is smooth.
Frying
- 4
Heat Oil
In a large, deep skillet, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Pipe Churros
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors as needed.
- 6
Fry Until Golden
Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
