Deviled Scotch Egg Ingredients

Method

Deviled Scotch Egg Directions

  1. 1

    Boil the Eggs

Place the large eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, cook the eggs for about 6-7 minutes for a soft-boiled result. After cooking, plunge them into ice water to halt the cooking process and make peeling easier.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sausage

In a bowl, take the pork sausage meat and season it with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients.

  3. 3

    Peel the Eggs

Once the eggs are cooled down, gently peel them under running water. Pat them dry with a paper towel and set aside.

  4. 4

    Wrap the Eggs

Take a portion of the sausage mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place an egg in the center and wrap the sausage around it, ensuring it is completely covered. Repeat with all eggs.

  5. 5

    Coat the Eggs

In a shallow bowl, place the breadcrumbs. Roll each sausage-wrapped egg in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Eggs

Heat the cooking oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated eggs and fry until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the eggs to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  7. 7

    Make the Deviled Mixture

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the fried Scotch eggs in half, place them on a serving platter, and drizzle or spread the prepared deviled mixture over the cut sides. Garnish with chopped chives.
