Prepare the Filling
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrots, and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 7-10 minutes.

Stir in mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
While the filling simmers, boil potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes.

Assemble the Pie
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Spread the beef and vegetable mixture in a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, smoothing it out with a spatula.

Sprinkle Gruyère cheese evenly over the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
