Method

Banana Cream Pie

  1. 1

    Prepare the crust

In a pie dish, press the graham cracker crust into the bottom and up the sides. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the pudding

In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until smooth. Allow it to set according to package instructions.

  3. 3

    Layer the pie

Slice bananas and layer them over the crust. Pour the prepared pudding over the bananas. Top with whipped topping and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.

  4. 4

    Chill

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Chocolate Cake

  1. 5

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a small cake pan.

  2. 6

    Mix dry ingredients

In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together.

  3. 7

    Combine wet ingredients

In another bowl, beat the egg, then add vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and hot water. Mix well.

  4. 8

    Combine mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 9

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 10

    Cool

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Bread Pudding

  1. 11

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a small baking dish.

  2. 12

    Combine ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Add in the cubed bread and raisins if using, stirring until well combined.

  3. 13

    Bake

Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.

  4. 14

    Cool

Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving.

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

  1. 15

    Prepare the mixture

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

  2. 16

    Add vanilla

Add the scraped seeds from the vanilla bean and the pod to the mixture. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and let it steep for 30 minutes.

  3. 17

    Mix yolks

In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks. Gradually add some of the warm cream mixture to the yolks, whisking constantly to temper them.

  4. 18

    Combine and cook

Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

  5. 19

    Chill and churn

Strain the mixture into a bowl, cover, and refrigerate until completely chilled. Freeze according to your ice cream maker’s instructions.
