Method
Wine Base Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Grapes
In a clean workspace, wash the Grenache, Syrah, and Tempranillo grapes thoroughly. Remove stems and any damaged grapes.
- 2
Crush the Grapes
Using a grape crusher or your hands, crush the grapes to release the juice. Collect the juice in a fermentation vessel.
- 3
Add Yeast
Sprinkle the wine yeast over the crushed grapes and juice. Stir gently to combine.
- 4
Add Sugar and Water
Dissolve the sugar in 1 liter of water and add it to the fermentation vessel. Stir thoroughly.
- 5
Fermentation
Cover the fermentation vessel with a clean cloth and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 7-10 days. Stir daily and check for fermentation signs (bubbling).
Aging Process
- 6
Strain the Wine
After fermentation is complete, strain the mixture to separate the liquid from the solid grape skins and seeds. Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
- 7
Add Oak Chips
Add the medium toast oak chips to the strained wine and transfer to a clean aging container. Seal the container.
- 8
Age the Wine
Allow the wine to age for 3-6 months in a cool, dark place. Taste periodically to check the flavor development.
Final Blending and Bottling
- 9
Prepare for Bottling
Once the aging process is complete, prepare your bottles by sanitizing them thoroughly.
- 10
Blend the Wine
If desired, add a fining agent to clarify the wine. Mix gently and let it sit for another week.
- 11
Bottle the Wine
Transfer the wine into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal with corks or caps.
- 12
Label and Store
Label the bottles with the date and type of wine. Store in a cool, dark place for at least another month before enjoying.
