Method

Protein Preparation

  1. 1

    Cooking Carne Asada

Season the carne asada with salt, black pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Grill or pan-sear over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Let it rest before slicing into thin strips.

  2. 2

    Cooking Chicken

Season the chicken breast with salt, black pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Grill or pan-sear over medium heat for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Let it rest before shredding.

  3. 3

    Preparing Chili Verde

If using pre-cooked chili verde, simply heat it up in a saucepan over medium heat. If making from scratch, sauté onions, garlic, and green chilies, then add pork and cook until tender. Season with salt.

Assembling the Burrito

  1. 4

    Layering Ingredients

On a large flour tortilla, start with a base of cooked rice (1/2 cup), followed by refried beans (1/4 cup). Add your choice of protein (carne asada, shredded chicken, or chili verde) on top.

  2. 5

    Adding Toppings

Spoon sour cream (2 tablespoons) over the protein, and sprinkle queso fresco (2 tablespoons) on top.

  3. 6

    Rolling the Burrito

Fold the sides of the tortilla inward, then roll from the bottom up to enclose the filling tightly. Repeat for each burrito.
