Method

French Toast Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

  2. 2

    Dip the Bread

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.

  3. 3

    Cook the French Toast

Place the dipped bread slices in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Add more butter as needed.

Banana Foster Topping Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bananas

Slice the bananas lengthwise and set aside.

  2. 5

    Toast the Walnuts

In a separate pan, toast the walnuts over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a skillet over low heat, add the sliced bananas and cajeta caramel. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bananas are heated through and slightly caramelized.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Plate the French Toast

Place two slices of French toast on each plate.

  2. 8

    Add the Toppings

Spoon the caramelized banana foster mixture over the French toast, then sprinkle with toasted walnuts.

  3. 9

    Finish with Whipped Cream

Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of powdered sugar. Add a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top.
