For the Seared Ahi Tuna
Method
Preparation of Seared Ahi Tuna
- 1
Marinate the Tuna
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Place the ahi tuna steak in the marinade, ensuring it's well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Sear the Tuna
Heat a skillet over high heat. Remove the tuna from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer depending on your preference. Remove from heat and let it rest.
- 3
Slice the Tuna
Once rested, slice the tuna steak into thin strips and sprinkle with black sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
