Gnocchi and Cheese Sauce

Method

Preparation and Baking

  1. 1

    Cook the Gnocchi

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potato gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the Gruyere cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Gnocchi with Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked gnocchi with the cheese sauce. Stir gently to coat the gnocchi evenly.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Transfer the gnocchi and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Gnocchi Au Gratin!
