Ahi Tuna Preparation
Method
Preparation of Ahi Tuna
- 1
Slicing the Ahi Tuna
Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi grade Ahi tuna into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Make sure to cut against the grain for a tender texture.
- 2
Marinating the Tuna
In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce and sesame oil. Add the sliced Ahi tuna to the bowl and gently toss to coat the fish evenly in the marinade. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator.
Serving the Dish
- 3
Assembling the Plate
On a serving plate, arrange the marinated Ahi tuna slices in a fan shape or neatly stacked. Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top for garnish.
- 4
Adding Condiments
Serve the dish with pickled ginger on the side and a dollop of wasabi paste. You can also serve with extra soy sauce for dipping.
- 5
Serving with Nori
If desired, serve the Ahi tuna with sheets of nori for wrapping. Place a slice of tuna on a piece of nori, add a touch of wasabi and pickled ginger, then roll it up and enjoy!
