Cocktail Sauce Preparation
1. Mix the Sauce
In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Adjust the hot sauce to your preference for spiciness.

2. Prepare the Boiling Liquid
In a large pot, combine 4 quarts of water, the juice of the lemon, bay leaves, and salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
3. Cook the Shrimp
Once the water is boiling, add the large shrimp to the pot. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
4. Ice Bath
Prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with ice and cold water. Once the shrimp are cooked, immediately transfer them to the ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let them sit for about 5 minutes.
5. Drain and Chill
After chilling, drain the shrimp and pat dry with paper towels. Arrange the shrimp on a serving platter or individual cocktail glasses.
