Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30-60 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Pat the seasonings into the meat.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Skillet

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it's very hot. Add olive oil and allow it to heat until shimmering.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it. This develops a crust.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steak using tongs. Add butter, garlic, and rosemary to the skillet. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, basting the steak with the melted butter.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time based on desired doneness.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
