- 1
Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, red chili flakes, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into small meatballs (about the size of a golf ball) and place them on a baking sheet.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and browned.
- 4
Make the Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in crushed tomatoes, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- 5
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the saucepan with the sauce and let them simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- 6
Serve
Skewer the meatballs, drizzle with the smoky tomato sauce, and garnish with shaved parmesan and fresh basil.
