Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Method

Cobbler Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fruit

In a large bowl, combine the seasonal mixed fruit, sugar, flour, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss gently to combine and let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the juices to form.

Lavender Crust Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Crust

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, dried lavender, salt, and baking powder. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 3

    Assemble the Cobbler

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the fruit mixture into a greased baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the lavender crust over the top of the fruit.

  2. 4

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Ice Cream Base

In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 6

    Chill and Churn

Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, then churn according to your ice cream maker's instructions.
