Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil the Liquid

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add the Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool slightly, then add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until the dough is smooth and well combined.

Make the Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 4

    Combine Sugar and Cinnamon

In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon until evenly combined.

Fry the Churros

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Carefully pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough directly into the hot oil.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Use tongs to turn them as needed.

  4. 8

    Drain and Coat

Remove the churros from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
