Pork for Carnitas

Taco Assembly

Method

Cook the Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Season the pork shoulder with salt, ground cumin, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the spices evenly over the meat.

  2. 2

    Slow Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add orange juice, lime juice, and bay leaves. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Discard any excess fat and bay leaves.

Assemble the Tacos

  1. 4

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable.

  2. 5

    Fill the Tacos

Place a generous amount of shredded pork in the center of each tortilla.

  3. 6

    Add Toppings

Top the pork with chopped onion, chopped cilantro, sliced radishes, and avocado slices. Add a dollop of sour cream if desired.

  4. 7

    Serve

Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top before eating.
