Hash Brown Ingredients

Method

Hash Brown Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Chop the Onion

Finely chop the medium onion and add it to the grated potatoes.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  5. 5

    Cook the Hash Browns

Scoop the potato mixture into the hot skillet, flattening it into an even layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the hash browns and add the butter. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the second side is golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once cooked through, remove the hash browns from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
