Method

Prep Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Clean and slice the mushrooms, and chop the onion into thin rings.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bourbon Sauce

If using store-bought bourbon sauce, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade, prepare it before cooking the burgers.

Cook the Burger

  1. 3

    Make the Patty

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, then form into two equal patties.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Sauté Vegetables

  1. 6

    Sauté the Mushrooms and Onions

In a separate skillet, add a little oil and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and chopped onions, and sauté until soft and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of the bun, layer a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and a generous drizzle of bourbon sauce. Top it off with a slice of tomato and the other half of the bun.
