Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Elk Burger Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground elk meat, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a burger patty, about ¾ inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill. Layer each bun with lettuce, the cooked elk patty topped with melted cheese, sliced tomato, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

Fries Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the medium potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to resemble fries.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 8

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt to taste.
