Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour, shaking out any excess.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously to combine.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the mixture. Gently fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  3. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side.
