Cheese Curds

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Curds

Place the cheese curds in a bowl and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, forming a thick batter.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Batter the Cheese Curds

Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  3. 7

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully place the battered cheese curds into the hot oil, a few at a time, to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried cheese curds from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
