Prepare the Burger Patties

Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground elk meat with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until well combined.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.
Cook the Burgers

Preheat Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Cook Patties
Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assemble the Burgers

Prepare Buns
Toast the brioche buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Spread a generous amount of BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each bun.

Place the cooked elk burger patty on the BBQ sauce, followed by crumbled bacon, lettuce, and tomato slices, if using. Top with the other half of the bun.
