Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Shape the meat mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onion and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until soft. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Spaghetti

  1. 7

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.

  2. 8

    Drain the Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Combine and Serve

In a large serving bowl, add the drained spaghetti and pour the marinara sauce over it. Gently toss to combine. Top with baked meatballs and serve hot.
