Salad Preparation

Slice the Mozzarella
Using a sharp knife, slice the fresh mozzarella cheese into 1/4 inch thick slices.

Slice the Tomatoes
Wash the ripe tomatoes and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rounds.

Prepare the Basil
Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Assemble the Salad
On a large serving platter, alternate layers of sliced mozzarella and sliced tomatoes. Tuck fresh basil leaves between the layers.
Balsamic Reduction Preparation

Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and honey.

Cook the Reduction
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

Cool the Reduction
Remove the saucepan from heat and let the balsamic reduction cool to room temperature.
Final Assembly

Drizzle and Serve
Once the balsamic reduction has cooled, drizzle it over the assembled Caprese salad. Serve immediately.
