Calamari

Method

Preparing the Calamari

  1. 1

    Clean the Calamari

If using whole calamari, clean and slice them into rings. Rinse under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Bread the Calamari

In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and black pepper. Dredge each calamari ring in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Frying the Calamari

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the breaded calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Creating the Sauté Mixture

  1. 5

    Sauté the Garlic

In a separate large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 6

    Add Peppers and Tomatoes

Stir in the sliced hot cherry peppers and diced fresh tomatoes. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are soft and the mixture is well combined.

Combining and Serving

  1. 7

    Combine Calamari and Sauté Mixture

Add the fried calamari to the sauté mixture and toss gently to coat the calamari with the garlic, peppers, and tomatoes.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately as an appetizer or main dish.
