Method
Preparing Tortilla Chips
- 1
Cut Tortillas
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the corn tortillas into triangles (like pizza slices).
- 2
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Fry Tortilla Chips
Carefully add a handful of tortilla triangles to the hot oil, frying them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
- 4
Drain and Season
Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt.
Assembling Nachos
- 5
Layer Chips
On a large oven-safe platter, spread out a layer of the fried tortilla chips.
- 6
Add Cheese
Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chips.
- 7
Add Jalapeños
Distribute the sliced jalapeños over the cheese-topped chips.
- 8
Melt Cheese
Place the assembled nachos in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 9
Serve
Remove the nachos from the oven and serve immediately with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa on the side.
