Method

Prep

  1. 1

    Prepare the ingredients

Thinly slice the ribeye steak if not pre-sliced. Slice the onion into thin rings.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Sauté the onions

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 3

    Cook the ribeye

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the thinly sliced ribeye steak. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently until the meat is browned and cooked through.

  3. 4

    Combine ingredients

Return the sautéed onions to the skillet with the ribeye. Mix well to combine.

  4. 5

    Melt the cheese

Reduce the heat to low and layer the white American cheese slices over the ribeye and onion mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the cheesesteak

Cut the hoagie rolls open, but not all the way through. Spoon the ribeye and onion mixture into each roll, ensuring to include plenty of melted cheese.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the Philly cheesesteaks hot. Optionally, add your favorite condiments or toppings.
