Marinade

Beef

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Marinade Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, fresh cilantro, and orange juice. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Remove the flank steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Place the steak on the hot grill. Grill for about 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness is achieved (130°F for medium-rare).

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  4. 6

    Slice the Steak

Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.

Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare Toppings

While the steak is resting, prepare your toppings by chopping onions and tomatoes, and slicing avocados.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Dish

Serve the sliced carne asada on a platter. Top with chopped onions, tomatoes, sliced avocado, and garnish with fresh cilantro.
