Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the flank steak with salt and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the onion, tomatoes, and green bell pepper. Mince the garlic and jalapeño pepper.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Seasonings

Mix cumin, oregano, and lime juice in a small bowl.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Steak

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated flank steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. Remove from skillet and let it rest.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the diced onion, and sauté for 2 minutes until translucent. Then add the tomatoes, green bell pepper, minced garlic, and jalapeño pepper. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  3. 6

    Combine Everything

Slice the rested flank steak against the grain into thin strips. Return the steak to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Add the seasoning mixture and cilantro. Stir well to combine and heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Bistec Mexicana

Serve the Bistec Mexicana hot with your choice of tortillas, rice, or beans.
