Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of sugar until it becomes a golden caramel. Carefully pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting to cover the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Blend the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine and Bake

Pour the flan mixture over the cooled caramel in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the larger pan with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until set.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert it onto a serving plate, and enjoy!
