Method

Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Step 1: Prepare the Mash

In a large pot, heat 3 gallons of water to about 150°F (65°C). Add 2 cups of barley malt and 1 cup of rice. Stir well and maintain the temperature for about 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Sparging

After 60 minutes, rinse the mash with 170°F (77°C) water to extract sugars. Collect the liquid in a fermentation vessel.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Boil the Wort

Bring the collected liquid (wort) to a boil. Add 0.5 cups of hops and boil for 60 minutes. Remove from heat and cool quickly.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Fermentation

Once cooled, transfer the wort to a fermentation vessel and add the yeast. Seal with an airlock and let it ferment for about 1-2 weeks.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Bottling

After fermentation, mix in 0.5 cups of corn sugar to carbonate the beer. Bottle the beer and let it condition for another 1-2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Step 6: Enjoy

Chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Michelob Ultra!
