Method

Preparing the Beef Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, take 1 pound of ground beef and season with 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of black pepper. Mix gently and form into 2 equal-sized patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip.

  3. 3

    Melt the Cheese

After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Sautéing the Onions

  1. 4

    Prepare the Onion

Slice 1 medium onion into thin rings.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Onion

In a separate pan, heat 1 tbs of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

If desired, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

Place a cooked beef patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Top with sautéed onions.

  3. 8

    Add Condiments

Spread 1 tbs of ketchup and 1 tbs of mustard on the top half of each bun. Place the top bun on each burger.
