Burger Ingredients

Sauteed Onions

Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well but do not overwork the beef. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and brush BBQ sauce on top. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown. This will enhance the flavor and prevent sogginess.

Sauteed Onions Preparation

  1. 4

    Slice the Onion

Peel and slice the onion into thin rings.

  2. 5

    Saute the Onions

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sprinkle with salt. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 10-15 minutes or until the onions are soft and caramelized. Remove from heat.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place a cooked cheeseburger patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with a generous amount of sauteed onions. Place the top half of the bun on top and serve immediately.
