Chill the Glass
Begin by chilling a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the drink.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 ounces of bourbon, 1 ounce of sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of aromatic bitters.

Stir the Mixture
Fill the mixing glass with ice. Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and combined.

Prepare the Glass
Discard the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass. Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish the Drink
Garnish the drink with a maraschino cherry and express the oils from an orange peel over the top before placing it in the glass.
