Pizza Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using store-bought pizza dough, let it come to room temperature. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness, typically about 12 inches in diameter.
- 2
Cook the Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, add the bulk Italian sausage. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 3
Assemble the Pizza
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into smaller pieces and distribute them over the sauce. Add the cooked sausage evenly on top, followed by the sliced pepperoncini peppers.
- 4
Season the Pizza
Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and drizzle olive oil over the top. Add fresh basil leaves, either whole or torn, to enhance the flavor.
- 5
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the assembled pizza onto a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- 6
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Slice the pizza and serve hot, garnished with extra basil if desired.
