Bruschetta Ingredients

Method

Bruschetta Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tomato Mixture

Start by washing the fresh tomatoes thoroughly. Remove the stems and chop them into small, bite-sized pieces. Place the chopped tomatoes into a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Basil and Season

Wash the fresh basil leaves, pat them dry, and roughly chop them. Add the chopped basil to the bowl with the tomatoes. Pour in the extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and add black pepper to taste. Gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Baguette

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While the oven is heating, slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2-inch thick slices. Place the slices on a baking sheet.

  4. 4

    Toast the Baguette

Once the oven is preheated, place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the baguette slices for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Garlic

While the baguette is toasting, peel the garlic cloves. Once the baguette slices are toasted, take them out of the oven and let them cool slightly. Rub one side of each toast with the peeled garlic cloves to impart flavor.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Bruschetta

Spoon the tomato and basil mixture onto the garlic-rubbed side of each toasted baguette slice. Make sure to distribute the mixture evenly amongst the slices.

  7. 7

    Serve

Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and enjoy immediately while the bread is still crispy. Optionally, drizzle with a little more extra virgin olive oil before serving.
