Mariquitas Ingredients

Method

Mariquitas Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Plantains

Peel the green plantains and slice them into thin rounds or diagonally for a more traditional chip shape.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Plantains

Carefully add the sliced plantains to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden and crispy.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the fried plantains from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.
