Ingredients for Ham Croquetas

Method

Directions for Making Ham Croquetas

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bechamel Sauce

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to create a roux.

  2. 2

    Add Milk and Thicken

Gradually add the milk while continuing to whisk to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Ham

Stir in the finely chopped ham, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.

  4. 4

    Shape the Croquetas

Once cooled, take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small logs or balls.

  5. 5

    Coat the Croquetas

Dredge each croqueta first in beaten eggs, then roll in breadcrumbs until well coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Croquetas

In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the croquetas in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the croquetas hot, with your favorite dipping sauce.
