Fried Pickles
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the batter
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Add buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Heat the oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 5
Fry the pickles
Carefully add the battered pickles to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and serve
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve hot with Creole Tartar Sauce.
