Catfish

Steamed Broccoli

Garlic Mashed Potatoes (Optional)

Method

Frying Catfish

  1. 1

    Prepare the Catfish

Pat the catfish fillets dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Dredge each fillet in the mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Catfish

Carefully add the coated catfish fillets to the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

Steaming Broccoli

  1. 4

    Steam the Broccoli

In a pot, add water and bring to a boil. Place the broccoli florets in a steamer basket over the boiling water, cover, and steam for about 5-6 minutes until tender but still bright green. Season with salt.

Preparing Garlic Mashed Potatoes (Optional)

  1. 5

    Cook the Potatoes

In a large pot, cover the diced potatoes with water and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

  2. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Add butter, minced garlic, milk, salt, and pepper to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Preparing Coleslaw (Optional)

  1. 7

    Mix the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Toss until well mixed and refrigerate until ready to serve.
