Cajun Fried Oysters
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Oysters
Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water and shuck them if necessary. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- 2
Marinate in Buttermilk
Place the oysters in a bowl and pour buttermilk over them. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Coat the Oysters
Remove the oysters from the buttermilk and allow the excess to drip off. Dredge each oyster in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 5
- 6
Fry the Oysters
Carefully add the coated oysters to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried oysters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with tomato remoulade sauce for dipping.
