Method
Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt, and mix well.
Mixing and Kneading
- 3
Add Wet Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add it to the dry ingredients along with olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise

Let Dough Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Second Rise
- 6
Shape the Loaf
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Turn it out onto a floured surface, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.

Baking
- 8
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 9
Bake the Bread

- 10
Cool the Bread
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
