Matzo Ball Ingredients

Soup Ingredients

Method

Matzo Ball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine matzo meal, eggs, water, vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and fresh dill (if using). Stir until well blended.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Soup Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Broth

In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Add Vegetables

Add the diced carrots, celery, and chopped onion to the boiling broth. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

Cooking the Matzo Balls

  1. 5

    Form the Matzo Balls

Once the matzo ball mixture has chilled, wet your hands and form the mixture into balls about 1 inch in diameter.

  2. 6

    Cook the Matzo Balls

Gently drop the formed matzo balls into the simmering soup. Cover the pot and let them cook for about 20 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.

  3. 7

    Serve

Ladle the soup into bowls, ensuring to include several matzo balls in each serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
