Method
Prepare the Brown Butter
- 1
Brown the Butter
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the butter foams and then turns a golden brown color, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mixing Ingredients
- 2
Combine Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix well until smooth. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- 3
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 4
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- 5
Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 6
Scoop the Dough
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- 7
Bake the Cookies
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
