Waffle Batter

Method

Preparing the Waffle Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of milk, 2 large eggs, 1 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Cooking the Waffles

  1. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. 5

    Cook Waffles

Once the waffle iron is ready, lightly grease it with a little butter. Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the waffle iron (usually about 1 cup, depending on the size of your iron). Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, approximately 5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Remove and Keep Warm

Carefully remove the waffles using a fork or tongs and keep them warm in a low oven while you cook the remaining batter.

Serving the Waffles

  1. 7

    Plate and Top

Serve the waffles warm on a plate. Drizzle with maple syrup, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and top with fresh fruit.
