Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2
Brown the Butter
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Mixing
- 3
Combine Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 4
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.
- 5
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 6
Add Chocolate Chips
Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
- 7
Scoop and Bake
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- 8
Cool the Cookies
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
